Growing to Serve

Military Ministry

St. Luke’s is located in an area with many active and retired military families. This is a special blessing, because our church family gains brothers and sisters in Christ for the time they’re with us.

MILITARY MINISTRY

Our ministry to — and for — the men and women of our Armed Forces, who are called to us as disciples, but sent from us as apostles. (Acts 1:8)

Since September 11, 2001 our nation has been involved in a global war on terror, and most of our military has been deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and other dangerous areas. This has created a new ministry opportunity for St. Luke’s, as we now have military families who need our love, our prayers, and our practical support during the increasingly difficult phases of a military career.

In responding to this need, St. Luke’s is called to pray our military families through the war on terror, as they serve to protect our freedoms.

We are also called to minister to our military families by providing spiritual support and practical assistance as those needs arise in the course of military life.

Aspects of Military Ministry:

*     Praying intentionally for deployed personnel via our newsletter/bulletin reminders.

*     Helping with meal support, yard work, emergency repairs, and other practical assistance.

*     Connecting military families for mutual support or encouragement.

*     Equipping military families with the skills necessary to manage the stresses of military life through focused classes and studies.

*     Honoring: the 1st Wednesday Night Supper each month is “Military  Appreciation Night” - families of deployed personnel eat free.

*         Check the “MIL MIN” Bulletin Board for other events of interest to Military Families.

Please pray for:

  • Those military members we know by name.
  • All military families, especially those with members deployed.
  • Those who serve in our Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard.
  • Those who serve in our National Guard and Reserve.
  • Military men and women who have been injured, especially those with Post
  • Traumatic Stress Disorder or other symptoms of Combat Trauma.
  • Military families who have lost a loved one.
  • Spiritual strength to deal with the pressures of Military Life.
  • Our national and military leaders.
  • Our military veterans and their families.
