Growing to Serve

Library

Church Library – The Outreach Ministry team has brought up the subject of re-instituting a library at St. Luke’s. After reviewing the available space currently at St. Luke’s, they realized that indeed there is a serious shortage of space issue regarding the library. Outreach’s plan was to have it along one wall of a classroom, so the room could still be used as a classroom on Sunday mornings at 9:45, but open to people the rest of the time. “One of the outreach opportunities about the library, is it's availability on weekday evenings when "outsiders" are in the building, i.e. parents picking up scouts, Little Leaguers, etc.” However, many evenings every classroom is filled with meetings, so the library would not be available for “casual, walking by” traffic. If a meeting is being held in the Library, it's unavailable for people to come in to get materials, browse, or just kill time.

Due to the fact that there are a number of people at St. Luke’s who think a library is important, Outreach Ministry has requested that the Building Committee consider the viability of a library room as part of our building plans.
