Hurricane Katrina Relief

St. Rock has applied to their conference to rebuild the church in the community rather than move north across the Interstate Highway 10. They presently have a tent erected on the old slab where the church used to be. Several of their members walk to church due to lack of transportation because of this they feel God is leading them to rebuild back on the same location.

We had an opportunity to worship at St. Rock on August 27^th, 2006. They had 22 present that day with three who had just returned to the area one year after the storm. They had a membership of 45 before the storm and pray that they can once again be God’s church in the community.

St. Luke’s is going to be their prayer partner. The new pastor, Elvina Barnes, says the church is grateful to St. Luke’s for being a prayer partner and looks forward to a long lasting relationship with our church. Shannon Bush, is a member who is keeping the church active through her work with worship, youth, Sunday School, Finance and anything that needs to be done. She has assembled a small wish list of things they need:

               Altar Candles (oil filled with flame guard or electric)

              Cross with Base

              Video or digital camera
              Electronic keyboard
              CD/Cassette player with detachable speakers
